AquaPaddle take the health of all our AquaPaddlers very seriously. That is why we have a First Aider on all our Crews. Plus, our Captains have First Aid knowledge, whether this is through the MIC (Mutual Improvement Class) sessions we run for our Captains and Volunteers or though external training.
As part of our First Aid cover, each AquaPaddle will be equipped with an AED. This will be located with the Time Lords at the Start and Finish Line. If for any reason the AED is unavailable on the day, the location of the nearest one will be placed in the Risk Assessment and on the Safety Cards the Volunteers carry with them.
The location of the AED is mentioned at the First Timers briefing and often repeated at the Main Briefing. If an event team knows, in advance of their AquaPaddle, that the AED will not be available on the day they must attempt to locate a replacement. If they require assistance, they should contact [email protected] or via the emergency contact number that the Senior Volunteers have access to.
