We have news about Grant Aid success, a couple of AquaPaddles postponed and the network of locations growing.
Active Thames Award
Active Thames, led by the Port of London Authority (PLA), has awarded £150,000 in grants to 26 successful applicants. The increase in funding from over £90,000 last year to nearly £150,000 this year demonstrates the continuing commitment Active Thames partners have made to promoting activity on the tidal Thames and inland waterways in London, Kent, and Essex.
AquaPaddle is one of the Award recipients for our BlueSpace session. This is great news and means we can help people in the London and Thames Estuary area. We will be working with our Delivery Partners across the area to deliver sessions to at least 100 people in need of the mental and physical health benefits that paddling on water gives.
Winters Grip
The challenging weather has caused the two AquaPaddles planned for this Sunday to be postponed (Chelmer & Tonbridge). The weather is either too wet or too cold 😔
Since Safety is the most important thing to us, keeping all the AquaPaddlers and Crew out of avoidable danger is paramount. We cannot risk running AquaPaddles in freezing conditions.
The weather will get warmer and it is looking good for Hampton – Molesey on 29th January. There are also plenty more dates coming in February along with the first public AquaPaddles at Rotherham and Lincoln.
Tell Your Friends
AquaPaddle is growing and with Spring on the way, there will be more opportunities to AquaPaddle around the country. If you have friends in other parts of the country that paddle and they would like to set up an AquaPaddle near them. Then tell them to get in contact with us.
If they are close to one of our current 10 locations, then get then to sign up and get involved. You know how much fun and rewarding it is 😎
Do you have friends that would like to get involved in the charity side of what we do. We would also interested to hear from them. As with any charity, there is lots of Admin to be done or being a shore member of the Crew. The friends don’t even need to be paddlers, just keen to help their community.
Finally, donations. All charities run on donations and we are no different. Tell your friends about us and if they are looking to help support a the charity, then please tell them about us. They can Donate a small amount by Texting
