AquaPaddle Thames Ditton

Thames Ditton, Surrey is an alternative location for the team that run AquaPaddle Hampton – Molesey. It is just across the River Thames from Hampton Court Palace. The Route is downstream from Ditton Beach to Raven’s Ait and back to The Albany Pub. It is the site of the first AquaPaddle on 17th July 2021.

The River Thames is busier on this stretch and as such is only used occasionally as there is limited parking.

There is parking at the Albany Pub, but this will be soon be paid-for or free to customers. There is also free on-street parking, but please park carefully as not to block the road for emergency vehicles or peoples driveways.

The finish is at the Albany Pub and they also have toilets that customers can use. There are also local shops nearby that sell food and drink. The nearest public toilet is at Hampton Court Station.

The start of AquaPaddle

AquaPaddle started with a group of fun loving paddlers heading out from Ditton Beach, paddled round and island in The Thames and headed back to their regular Pub for a “Recovery Drink”. And so AquaPaddle started. Before that there was a lot of planning and organising and thankfully there is a much better timing system than there was then!

Such a fun group of AquaPaddlers

The local AquaPaddle community has grown. It’s not just Paddleboarders, but Kayakers and Canoeist have joined in as well. As long as you can control your craft safely (start, stop and steer), then you are welcome to join in. The AquaPaddlers welcome new paddlers and are happy to share tips and advice if needed. Since it is not a race, there is a much more giving atmosphere.

Pushing for the line to get the personal best time
