Paddling along the Forth and Clyde Canal near Kilsyth offers a serene escape into Scotland's rich history and natural beauty. The Forth & Clyde Canal, handrails the Antonine Wall, the most Northern of the Roman Frontier. The Canal is home to a host of wildlife including Kingfishers, Buzzards, Deer, Otters and our resident nesting birds, including Swans, Ducks and Moore Hens.

The natural changing landscape through the seasons with our backdrop of trees is beautiful. The water is fresh as it is fed from 2 natural lochs on the Kilsyth Hills.

This stretch of the canal, close to Auchinstarry Marina, provides stunning views of the Kilsyth Hills and access to a historically significant area. Once a bustling hub for coal and iron industries during the Industrial Revolution, Auchinstarry is now a tranquil spot popular with outdoor enthusiasts. The canal itself, completed in 1790, played a vital role in connecting Scotland’s east and west coasts, facilitating trade and transport. Today, its calm waters are perfect for kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding, offering paddlers a unique perspective on the area's heritage and scenic landscapes.
