Welcome To AquaPaddle’s Newsletter

Friday 1 July 2022 | by Brett Scillitoe

Thank you for signing up to AquaPaddle. You have joined one of the fastest growing Free Paddle Sport movements. Whether you Stand, Sit, Kneel or Lay when paddling, you are all AquaPaddlers 😊

This email contains some key information about attending an AquaPaddle, so please read it carefully and you might want to store this email for future reference.

Attending an AquaPaddle

When attending an AquaPaddle, the most important things to remember is your wearable AquaPaddle Number, Leash and ideally a Buoyancy Aid (either inflatable belt or full PFD). You can either create your own wearable number or Buy-a-Bib with your AquaPaddle Number printed on it.

Without a Leash you will not be given a time. Without wearing a number, we won’t know who you are, and you won’t be given a time. Your number is your responsibility and you must bring yours to all AquaPaddles. We do not give out Event Bibs or numbers. No AquaPaddle Number – No Result. Sorry we need to be firm on this.

Bibs are available from our Shop – https://aquapaddle.org/shop – They normally take a few days to arrive and are a very reasonable £15. Or you can create your own. Information on how to do this is on the following page – https://aquapaddle.org/blog/what-you-need-for-an-aquapaddle.

AquaPaddle Route Maps will be added to the Blog section of the website as the new locations are added.

Profile and Nicknames

If you haven’t already done so, please set your “Nickname”. You can do this by going to your profile page under the Little Person Icon on the right of the menu and clicking on My Profile. There is a button that asks you to ADD / EDIT NICKNAME.

Over time we will be adding more functionality and details to the website, where you will be able to add board and paddle details and your local AquaPaddle. But this is for the future.

Join our Communications System

Please sign up to our Discord Comms System by clicking the link below

The comms systems has many channels, which can be muted, so you only get notified about the things that interest you. We ask that you agree to the rules of the Comms System in the Welcome Channel. There is a Desktop App that is very good and can make it easier to use.

It is important to join the system for last minute notifications about your local AquaPaddle, especially if there is a change to a different local route or the AquaPaddle is cancelled. Please check the comms system before heading to the event.

Volunteering

Every AquaPaddle relies on a Volunteer Crew. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make friends, feel great and have fun. Click on the Volunteering link to learn all about volunteering at AquaPaddle – https://aquapaddle.org/volunteer/volunteer

The Charity

AquaPaddle is a registered charity to bring the benefits of being on the water to as many people as possible. To read more about our charity work please visit our BlueSpace page on the website – https://aquapaddle.org/bluespace

If you would like to help and support us with all that we do, please consider giving us a Donation or setting up a regular donation. AquaPaddle is free at the point of use, however, there are cost to running the BlueSpace sessions and the AquaPaddle 5k events.

Questions

At each AquaPaddle the Crew (Volunteers) are there to help you and answer questions. They wear bright Orange T-shirts. Or before the event, please use the Comms System and the community will help.

Thank you again for getting involved in AquaPaddle, the Free 5k Social Paddle.

Best wishes

Brett
